I just heard the showck news that Parkys off. -he does his last show in december. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7053090.stm

Could this provide an opportunity for a radical overhaul of the weekend schedules I wonder?

May I suggest Richard Allinson as replacement with the kind of show he played on Oxford (stop throwing things!)

No because his paper reviews seem only to consist of reviewing the shopping supplements. Rolling Eyes

You were a bit slow not posting this story, Mark. You have to be on the ball with news - even the BBC website beat you to it! Smile

If the Sunday Supplement show is to remain then how about Chris Tarrant being made the new host? He would add a lot of "colour" to what is currently a very drab format. On the other hand, Jimmy Young might be asked back! Laughing

I think Jimmy Young has a Sunday Supplement column in a Sunday newspaper, so I would imagine so! Laughing

is Jimmy Young still in a fit state to do a radio show? Hes well into his 80s ,and he was pretty frail when he left 5 years ago...If anyone has any info on his condition please let us know

I was joking when I said Sir JY should be brought back. There's no way he would rejoin the BBC anyway, not after the way they shafted him. Besides, his broadcasting days are over.

I very much doubt Richard Allinson will be back. He's in the past now alongside his Radio 2 Round Thing.

I also doubt if richard allison will do another regular prog on r2 because i think he is somehow not favoured fo some reason. However I do think he would be good on the drivetime show. That would be second choice, I would love to see Danny Baker doing drivetime instead of chris evens who I cannot stand. I really know nobody who likes to listen to evens and i cannot understand why he gets the ratings they say he does.

There is still believe amongst Richard Allinson's fans that he will return to Radio 2 with a permanent show at some point.

Taking over from Parky would be an ideal slot-it allows Richard to keep his weekday BFBS Radio 2 and Radio Oxford Saturday commitments.
