Is she doing a good job or not?

I say not (and some people might say knot).

Yes, she has done a great job at giving her celebrity chums slots on the station:

Chris Evans, Russell Brand, Dermot O'Leary, Matthew Wright, Elaine Paige, Alan Titchmarsh. Then, of course, there's Davina McCall, DIRE O'Briain, Richard Hammond, Ricky Gervais and Kate Thornton waiting on the horizon.

I don't really know who she's taken on over the years but for hiring Evans, Brand and O'Leary plus, getting rid of Ed Stewart, maybe causing Johnnie Walker to leave Drivetime and even Parky... Sad
No, she's spoiled Radio 2 for me.

Lets all hope and pray Steve Wright stays on to keep the station up there! Razz

I can just see her with her bucket - baling out the boat right now! Of course, if she'd got in someone who knew how to refit the boat to a seaworthy condition in the first place she wouldn't have such a problem as the one she has created for herself.

I think a better description would be "Re-arranging the deck-chairs on the Titanic", to be honest!

Sorry Scott-can't agree with you on Danny Baker.

Imho I think this guy is truly awful-I really hope Lesley Douglas never brings him to Radio 2.

Danny Baker was offered the Saturday morning slot in 1999 when Steve Wright moved to weekday afternoons. Baker snubbed the offer saying "the time wasn't right". He was already hosting a Saturday morning show on Talk Sport, therefore had other commitments. Shame he didn't take up Moir's offer because a few months later, Baker was sacked from Talk Sport over a dispute with the bosses when they moved him to an earlier slot.

Therefore, there is a chance that Baker could be approached by Radio 2 again. Lesley Douglas listed Baker as one of her top 10 favourite broadcasters in 2004. Baker has also appeared on Radio 2 twice this year - each times as a guest. His first appearance was on the Steve Wright show. His second was on a Sunday afternoon when Chris Evans was presenting live coverage of the Diana Concert.

My fervent hope is that Danny Baker does NOT get a job with Radio2. Whilst he may have matured since being part of the disaster that was the Bannister 'Blood on the carpet' debacle, the rest of that Brat Pack has not, and being subjected to one of them on as daily basis is bad enough, 2 would be too much.

Danny Baker - Radio 2? It just doesn't click. He has no UBP to offer Radio 2. He's good but he's not great he has some humour but he's not really funny, he's much like a taxi driver really, sometimes interesting, entertaining even for a short trip but you wouldn't want to be in that taxi for a whole show...

The Danny Baker debate for a show on Radio 2 died a death years ago.

No it didn't. Perhaps the same could be said in respect of the Chris Evans, Steve Wright and Sarah Kennedy debates?

They are well loved presenters so they will continue to entertain the nation regardless of who is in the management.

You know that for sure do you? Two drunks on the radio...why not add Pete Doherty to the equation? He can join forces with ex-junkie Russell Brand.

"Entertain" is one word in the dictionary. I can think of others much more appropriate to at least one of those! (Especially the ginger-rentagob) Cool

Sarah Kennedy doesn't entertain; she depresses whereas Chris Evans shouts and patronises.

On the contrary, Chris Evans can be very entertaining on the radio. I have never rated his TV work, but he was brilliant on the old Radio 1 breakfast show. He was also pretty good on Saturday afternoon Radio 2. I just don't think Drivetime is the right slot for him. He would be much better off on the 2.00 - 5.00pm slot in place of His Royal Smugness aka Steve Wright.

As for Sarah Kennedy, I have never found her entertaining in any shape or form - not even when she hosted Game For A Laugh.

Anyway unless Radio 2 can find a space for Danny Baker then I doubt we will hear him on the network with his own show. I'm one thing amazed he hasn't been approached to host a documentry. One conclusion is because HE DOSN'T WANT TOO..

Ask Lady BDS. No doubt you'll not only get the synopsis of the document but a fantasy listing of when DB will be presenting it! Wink

I bet he felt a little uneasy this afternoon, they were talking about the fact that they've discovered the gene which makes people hungry and that they could alter people's desire to over eat. ( something along those lines anyway )
He was a little defensive on people's right to eat.... Laughing
