I recorded a couple of shows on to my hard drive and noticed that they are recording on my Total Recorder in mono. Anyone else noticed?

I've checked all the settings and they are set for stereo, and the live broadcast records in stereo. I've also checked a previous recording and done a trial re-record and that also comes in stereo.

As a last resort I taped the same show from listen again from my internet radio and that came over in stereo, so it's only the PC broadcast that is affected.

It's puzzling me. Wink

No puzzle. Internet bandwidth costs money to buy. Listen Again has a relatively low bandwidth (hence the less than sparkling quality) and mono programmes require less bandwidth than stereo ones.

Rob

I don't think that is the reason. Why has is just started to happen within the last few weeks?

It's obviously coming through in stereo on my wifi internet radio so why not on my PC through the BBC player?

Helen,

I have Audio lab and I've been taping stuff to my hard drive and they've come out in stereo ok.

No idea what problem may be. have you tried to tape a different station, say bbc7 listen again to see if it's mono with them?

Have just tried Radio Wales - stereo. Radio 1 and 6 music and something else on R2 all in mono.

At least I know it's not Total Recorder, but it's odd!

All output from the Real streaming servers is stereo (and, where Real is concerned, horrible at that!) but I think Helen got a setting wrong on the way into the desktop recorder. Mind you, the BBC's Real streaming has been very troublesome lately.

I do wish they'd move away from Real!

Thanks Fred. I'll have a look at the settings, but I checked the other day and they were set on Stereo.

I thought it would be odd that the BBC would put out programmes in mono unless of course they has been originally recorded that way for a specific reason.

It must have been the streaming of that particular show because it is working fine in Stereo now and I haven't altered a single setting on Total Recorder.
