Whilst watching an old episode of the Sweeney over the weekend could not help notice the wonderful old cars appearing- eg Hillman Imp, Ford Cortina, Ford Granada, Ford Capri and one of my favourites the Mini Clubman.

Anyone got a favourite car from yesteryear they would like to mention.

E type Jaguar, the 2 seater version.

My Dad had one when I was tiny and I loved sitting in the tiny space behind the seats. Sadly it had to go when I got to big to sit there.

I love seeing them on the roads.

My first car was a Ford Capri 1.3L in white reg SFA 749R... I loved it but it came to a sad end on the M5 at Michealwood services in 1983, my favourite car was the second car I had. It was a 1967 Hillman Imp in beige with red leather look seats. It was a beast to drive as it had a tooth missing from the steering rack, holes in the floor and leaky windows, hand pump window washers and a switch on the floor for dipping headlights . I bought it in Weymouth and drove it to Alnwick in Northumberland, where one of my brothers popped a new engine into it over the weekend, it lasted for ages after that. After reluctantly selling it in 1989 I vowed never again to have a car that has more seats than doors. Managed that all the way until this year when my latest set of wheels (The Evil Twin) was delivered in Feb this year.

I miss all my old cars and wish I still had them all
'65 Mk1 Cortina GT
'72 Morris minor pick-up truck
'72 Vauxhall Viva 2.3 (forerunner to the Magnum, rare as hen's teeth)
'72 Opel Manta 'A' series
'68 1600ti Beamer (absolute snotter but had a cool as you like full length Webasto sunroof)

My favourite car that I owned was a '66 Chevrolet Impala SS, blue metalflake, red flake flames, biscuit interior and a necksnapper V8 !

Curren car is a Gold 'n' chrome '52 plate Chrysler PT Cruiser.

OK. Blast from the past: My Dad's Jowett Javelin, a snub nosed saloon very much like an enhanced VW. Not to mention his Ford Zephyr, his Zephyr Zodiac, Ford Consul and then his Sunbeam Talbot. Although we were never well off enough to have one, as a kiddie I used to lust after the (Triumph?)Mayflower and Sunbeam Rapier. Then the boyfriends had a range of "sought afters", including a Wolseley, Hillman Minx, Singer Gazelle and the inevitable Cortinas, (not to mention a purple and pink regency stripe VW with a see -through floor behind the passenger seat!) and (moving upmarket) an XJ6 before we moved on to the usual Ford Escorts, Renault 12 etc. Then I started my own journey with a Triumph 1300E, followed by a Renault 5 (with a dashboard gear change) and so on.......

These days I hardly take notice of the wheels beneath my feet... except for noticing that they don't rust like my heroes!... Wink

But I think the Wolseley was my favourite, deep leather seats, wooden dash, but with a banana shaped bonnet that we had to fit leather straps to, in order to secure it after the bonnet catch gave way rather dramatically on the moor over Yorkshire. Fond memories

Jowett Javelin! my brother had one of those in the 60's. a nice car in it's day.

First car for me was '38 Austin Big Seven Laughing followed by mainly big Fords; Zephyrs Zodiacs and Consuls including a 62 convertible.

The Mk4 Zephyrs were (maybe) ugly but great to drive and of course, the big front bench seat and column gear was ideal for cuddling up with the girlfriend whilst driving. Wink

One motor I enjoyed owning was a Chevrolet Blazer. I remember pulling up to the lights on our high street and this little lady walked in front of the bonnet and you could hardly see her! Big 4x4 with super smooth V8.

My brother and I have had many old American cars which I still like to be honest, in fact I hope to buy another soon.

I had a 71 Mustang convertible for 23 years until recently. Wish I hadn't sold it sometimes, a real nice car.

Present cars - Grand Cherokee Jeep, Mercedes CLK convertible and my trusty '86 Volkswagen Transporter pick up truck!
Wouldn't sell the truck, it's not worth much but it drives like a Rolls. Razz
