Chris Langham could not have imagined a more public fall from grace.

At the very peak of his career in 2005 police officers arrived at his home in Kent with news that would leave him "hysterical" - they had reason to believe he had been downloading child pornography.

In fact, evidence had been passed to Kent police from officers connected to Operation Ore - the UK's largest police investigation into paedophile activity on the internet.

As had been suspected Langham, 58, had on his computer, alongside scripts for TV programmes, videos of young girls "being degraded and sexually abused".

It was not long before journalists were tipped off and he was issuing a statement to the Daily Mirror asking for privacy.

Then, a 25-year-old woman - who had seen the stories in the press - came forward to say Langham had had sex with her when she was 14.

Did he try to use his abuse to defend himself which he had when he was a child?

Yeah, it's dispiriting. I've always liked him and was glad when he finally achieved the fame and success he deserved. But I guess he didn't deserve it after all.

Likewise - I thought the first ever episode of the radio series of "People Like Us" (the one with the journalist) was one of the funniest things I'd heard up until them on R4 ("Oooh, that's a big lorry!").

The TV series wasn't too bad either in places.

Show you that even the rich and/or famous are just 'people like us' - they all have their shortcomings.

He's been released early and looks like his acting career is in tatters.

He's a filthy pervert. I hope he gets his comeuppance. Anyone who downloads child porn to watch kids being sexually abused and tortured is unfit to be labelled up a human. Mad

Wouldn't go as far as Scott but am mystified over apparent leniency in this case.

Ian.

I'm disappointed that Chris Langham has got himself into this situation through his own stupidity. It's a pity because he's a really good actor.
