Music mogul Simon Cowell insists he is not gay - he just likes to take care of his appearance.

Cowell has been plagued by gay rumours since launching talent TV shows Pop Idol and American Idol in the U.K. and U.S. respectively.

But the multi-millionaire insists he is not homosexual.

He says, "If I was, why hide it? It's not as if the music business would be an odd place for a gay man to work.

"And, anyway, if I was trying to hide the fact that I was gay, I would be off playing rugby every Saturday, wouldn't I?"

Yahoo News.

Will Young didn't say anything until Pop Idol finished..

So, just because a guy likes to take pride in his appearance this makes makes him gay?

WTF is this world coming to? Rolling Eyes

What does it matter, whether he is gay, straight, AC/DC, black, white, yellow, brown, protestant, catholic, muslim, Sikh, Jew, Buddist or atheist? He is still Simon Cowell, and he is who he is, like or loathe him as that and not for any other tainted prejudice.

Give over, he's well gay - and everyone knows it! They said as much during the Louis Theroux Meets Max Clifford show last year.

Oh, well, it's gospel, then Rolling Eyes

Actually I thought it was compulsory these days Wink

As BB said, makes not a jot of difference.

I think it does. This is a man who makes a living having opinions on other people on the basis that he's "honest" - if he's not being totally honest about his lifestyle, doesn't that make him a hypocrite and make his opinions worth less?

I don't think it does make a difference. His opinions are his professional opinions, being or not being gay has no bearing on professional opinions. Sexuality is a personal private matter if you want it to be. If you choose to let the world know, then that is a personal choice. It's not deceitful to have a private-life unless what you do in your private life is a contradiction to what you advocate publicly. I don't recall Simon Cowell ever saying anything publicly, against people who are gay.

And besides if he were gay, and respect to Scott but I'm sure he'll agree with when I say, there would have been a string of money hungry acid queens looking to out him to a red top rag for a bunce, long before now.

Stopping that sort of thing is what Max Clifford is hired for.

Max Clifford is a pillock. As for Simon Cowell, I don't think he's gay, nor do I find him remotely attractive. I know plenty of women that do, though.

Did someone say it's compulsory???

Bugger....where did I leave those cast iron underpants?? Shocked

Although, perhaps "bugger" was the wrong word to use! Laughing

I don't see what anybody's sexual proclivity has to do with anything, anyway- it's the 21st Century...aren't we supposed to be beyond judging people by who they choose to hump?
Must have been a slow news day or a lazy bit of reporting by our slimy media

Simon Cowell is the master of promoting his money making ventures in the media. I'm sure he has a hand in any story that keeps him and Cringe Factor in the Press. Cool
