The tribute to Kenny Everett was very good last night I thought.
Nice to be reminded of his various characters, I'd forgotten about the angry transvestite in the bowler hat! Laughing

I also smiled at the way Chris Moyles was seemingly amazed by Kenny in his studio making up all his multi track sketches and jingles.
When you think about the ultra technical, digital gear they have to play with today and yet nobody comes anywhere near Kenny for this type of show.

I do find the standard tribute phrase "He was way ahead of his time" by Mr.Moyles a little irritating however.
I don't think he was ahead of his time at all, he was very much part of that time, both on radio and TV.
I'd suggest Jack Jackson was doing similar things back in the early 60s too.
In fact, I think we've gone backwards. ( Comedy hour on Saturday?? pathetic really. Rolling Eyes

)

I'm so glad they included the Rod Stewart sketch with the inflating bum! that had me in tears when I first saw it!

Great show, hope they show it again soon....

I watched this as well Santa, it was, IMHO, brilliant, especially the Cupid Stunt Parky interviews. As the Big Yunn said, there was only one Kenny Everett, you don't replace people like him, they never come along again so all you can do is be happy that you knew him while he was here. I agree.

Was amazing how many snippets they managed to cram into the programme, although a few appeared more than once, and it might have been nice to have seen a whole sketch.

They obviously couldn't get hold of his interviews with Parky or Wogan, or any excerpt from Blankety Blank. No mention was made of Captain Kremmen and very little of Kenny as DJ, apart from the editing sequence and the infamous driving test remark, was seen or heard.

Moyles was clearly so much in awe that he could hardly speak and Brand was there because... I'm not really quite sure why he was there.

I don't know about "ahead of his time" either. He just made the most of what was available at the time, and his wit and humour were very of their time - it does sound and look dated now.

I found the Ev tribute programme very disappointing. A few talking heads, some poorly editied cuts from his TV shows and very little about his radio work. Clearly a programme made on a budget.

My son is 11 and watched the programme with me. Kenny's humour should have been right up his street, but the clips were all to short for him to get the context of the jokes. It's only funny to me because I remember the series from first transmission. We only got to see two different sizes of bum in the Rod Stewart sketch, for example - the real humour was in the gradual growth until "the bum" reached utterly stupendous proportions.

No, the show was badly put together and didn't have enough Kenny in it.
