Knievel was best known for a failed 1974 attempt to jump Snake River Canyon on a rocket-powered cycle and a spectacular crash at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. He suffered nearly 40 broken bones before he retired in 1980.

And he died in his bed. Laughing

he always used to amaze me.

not with the stunts themselves but rather his total lack of planning. his method was to just max the throttle and go for it. Shocked

when it worked it was stunning. when it failed we got to see just how frail the human body actually is in glorious super slo-mo.

my overiding image is of his limp body bouncing off the landing ramp and flying through the air.

r.i.p. the original daredevil

He didn't get his last jump. Laughing

Sad news, and still young.

Just spotted from the Telegraph's preview of Christmas TV that Richard Hammond had just done an interview with him - no broadcast date or time given though.
