How good has Alex been this week?

I didn't think it was possible to be better than the best but it seems that I was <whispers>wrong again.

In the Library this week we've had:-

Acker Bilk - Stranger on the Shore
Robben Ford - Cannon Ball Shuffle - For Freddie King
Earl Bostick - Smoke Rings
George Duke-Sugar Loaf

to name just a few.....

Robben Ford, eh? - So someone else did buy that album, then! Cool

Too early (or late) for me, only have him on if I can't get to sleep, and he usually does the trick. Infinitely better than the PM chap, though.

Actually he is so right for that time of the morning, and is able to do and get away with things ("Dark Lord... Boloxnia... Slap My Top"), and, moreover, play tracks that he wouldn't be able to if he were on at any other time of the day. Shame that 99% of the population is asleep at the time.

Good to know he's improved - I thought you'd said he'd gone a bit rubbish lately, Rachel. Has he been reading here?

Well I did think the Boloxina thread went on for a bit and Alex was sounding a bit hacked off (I understand why) with his car bursting into flames and other unpleasant things but he's back better than ever. I don't think he reads stuff on here though, although I do know that he's been sent stuff from here in the past so maybe that has happened again. Whatever it is, he's on top form at the moment, and tomorrow is Friday - always the best show of the week!! Don't miss it. Smile

Rachel, is it fair to imply that maybe, just maybe, perhaps........ you have a little bit of a girly-type crush on our Alex. Perhaps? Maybe?

It's OK, you don't have to try and hide your feelings! Don't be shy! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Fred, in my experience girly-type crushes are short lived and replaced on a regular basis with a new one, usually of a younger age and more poster friendly than the previous one. Alex and his Best Time of The Day Show are irreplaceable in terms of broadcasting excellence, sure they could put someone else on at that time but it would be a vacuous void of entertainment making a desert of the early morning.

I've been a fan of Alex and his show for many years. Smile
I was right about the Friday Show too... check it out on listen again.. Smile

I like that. You can come again:)

After a weekend of unrelenting stygian gloom, I'm an hour into this morning's show on my MP3 player here at work and even though the dank weather continues outside, with Alex in full flow, it feels like mid summer in the office. Very Happy

I'd forgotten in my sleep last night that Alex is away this week.

Nikki is ok in a, plays music and talks in-between tracks, kind of way... but for me, when Alex is away they may as well just put on sombre music from 3-6am.

Sad

Rachel, Brian Matthew played John Lennon's Cold Turkey last Saturday and it made me think of your enforced deprivation this week. Real bad Laughing

Yep it's not been an easy week Ron Wink ... although Nikki did play my listener's library request on Tuesday which brought a smile:)

I'll do just that LEE Very Happy It would be good to have him.

On the upside: in an effort to deflect the accusations of me being negative all the time. Alex is doing an extended BTOTDS all over Christmas and that is gonna be fantastic.

He's made a few references to it over the past couple of weeks. Let's hope it's true.
He mentioned this morning that "for reasons which will become clear over the next few weeks" he is selling his house. I wonder if this has anything to do with it?

Bet la Kennedy is cacking it Laughing

SK is being moved to a 3 til 4 slot (well, it's sort of dawn, at least in the summer), allowing Alex to do 4 til 7.30? Laughing

Don't tell Rachel, but it has for quite a while now - several years, in fact - I just don't get the opportunity to listen to much of it these days, nor the time to listen again. Sad

Well ... I don't know LEE Very Happy I don't think it'll be anything like a doggy biscuit, a massage, a bunch of grapes or a complete course in Latin..... All tasty treats indeed..... I'd go for something, musical... "A Flute perhaps?" .. No!!! "Piano?" No!!! "Didgeridoo?" Look! ... Music...... something maybe that you don't often get to hear; that's what I reckon anyway... but what would I know? I'm just guessing: that's the fun part of a treat.....the wondering what it is?
