Tragic indeed. And not as uncommon as it should be. A Spanish league player died in similar circumstances a few months back.

I know of at least three non-league players who have died this year during or just after a game

When I went to Cyprus, on detachment, in 83, we played inter-squadron football, one of our young airman, aged just 22, died of a heart attack. We were all devastated, his family were even more effected by this terrible loss. I can still see this happy, healthy and very active young man smiling with his love of life and will never know how this could happen to him.

All this talk of people dying is very depressing isn't it, what with Kevin Greening, Dan Fogleberg and others.

Probably so. But I suppose we have to hope things will be a bit better. January is depressing enough. Anybody got any good news? Laughing

Yes. I was thinking earlier of just how funny Stanley Unwin was and how I miss his lovable Unwinese gobbledygook.
I found a webpage where you can listen to lots of his wonderful stories which cheered me up no end. Razz

www.stanleyunwin.com/audio.htm

"" Hi ho and a jolly welcode to all you surfwide'n interwebber lopers. Here beholdy manifold things Stanley Unwinmost - all deep joy and thorkus for great laugh'n tittery. O yes. ""

love it...
