Today's Telegraph says Brucie won't be knighted till the Birthday Honours next June.

Not sure how they know, anyway.

I think they might be just guessing assuming they know he has not been knighted this year Confused
I don't know how they would know though, always thought the recipient to be was only 'allowed' to tell their family about it.

Delighted to see local lad Brendan Foster, creator of the Great North Run, getting a CBE.

Whose honour do you especially applaud or deprecate?

[quote="SantaFefan"] arise Sir Wrighty.

Come on Santa, he would frighten the Queen to death, with that moustache underlining that huge nose he looks like a rat peering over a boghouse brush Wink

But not until June.

This from The Sun

STRICTLY Come Dancing host Bruce Forsyth is to be KNIGHTED, The Sun can reveal.

Brucie, 79 – dubbed the King of Game Show Hosts – will get the gong for services to showbiz in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June.

The award is a major victory for a campaign waged by The Sun in the wake of Brucie’s big career comeback.

Thousands of Sun readers signed an online petition for the former tap-dancer to be given the gong.

On Saturday’s BBC1 ballroom show co-host Tess Daly joked about “Sir” Brucie – a reference to our campaign.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown will rubber stamp the gong before it is agreed by the Queen.

Officials had hoped to give Brucie, who has a CBE, the tribute in the New Year’s Honours, but it is believed arrangements could not be made fast enough.

He came to fame as host of the Generation Game in the 1970s – with his catchphrase “Nice to see you, to see you nice”.

The dapper star then hosted Play Your Cards Right and The Price is Right before his career went quiet.

But in 2003 the three times married dad of six made a comeback on Have I Got News For You – and the first series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Not for me he didn't, he was "famous" in my book for presenting Sunday Night at the London Palladium back in the 60s!...

Brucie has been on the TV for what seems to be all of my life.
I think he's great and deserves a Knighthood more than anybody else I can think of.

If they can give an OBE to Kylie what about that other great and far more deserving Australian Rolf Harris, sure it's about time he was knighted (or honorary knighted)

Well done Santa, I was about to post similiar, except he is not one of my favourites, but he was excellent as the resident host of Sunday Night At The London Palladium, IMHO. I am not really in favour of entertainers being Knighted, unless they are truley exceptional, and not many are, or they do a considerable amount or voluntary/charity work.
I see voluntary workers who for years do many hours unpaid every week, yes they normally enjoy it, but they do make a great difference for many young people and it is not for vast sums of money and very few actually get any public recognition, in my experience.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But it's 50 years since he started appearing on Sunday Night at the London Palladium. How long do they need?

There's been correspondence in the Telegraph speculating on the prospects of Ken Dodd receiving a knighthood (as he would say--it'd keep my ears warm in bed!) but one writer believes he won't get one as he's a Conservative.
