Who's been watching this mini-series in the spot usually occupied by the One Show?

Some wonderfully obscure specialist subjects, such as Tony Hawks on Tony Hawk (skateboarder with whom T Hawks is often confused). Bill Kenwright did splendidly on the Hit Parade 1958-64--I didn't do too badly myself!

If you were to go on Mastermind, what would your specialist subjects be? You'd need one plus a reserve, as I think you have to have a different specialist subject if you get beyond the first round.

I'd pick the UK Top 20 charts from 1962 to 1968 as a first choice and British Light Music from 1900 to 1960 as a second one.

Over to you.

Ian.

One of my subjects would probably be chart-based as well, favourite period being the 60s and early 70s. Although they're a bit before my ken I'd be tempted by the 50s as well, as I've just invested in the excellent series of CDs documenting every chart entry from the first chart in 1952 up to, at present, 1957 (copyright being released by the original record labels under the 50-year rule).

Second subject would probably be the London Underground, reflecting boyhood interest from a time when I used to live down there and would spend many days of school holidays armed with a "Twin Rover" ticket (unlimited bus and tube travel for two and six) roaming the network, exploring places en route, from Amersham to Ongar, or High Barnet to Upminster, not something I'd do for fun, or recommend any youngster to do, unaccompanied, now.

I'd probably need to buy a new anorak as well Wink

Mine would be the life and film career of Humphrey Bogart and my second subject would be rock'n'roll music from 1955 to 1965. Laughing

A lousy edition of Celebrity Mastermind last night (how could 18 be the highest final score?) but a cracker tonight to end this short series.

I'll be glad to see the One Show return on Monday, though. I think it's one of the best arrivals on our screens for years and Adrian Chiles has just the right approach.

I was glad to see that Brian Sewell and Nicholas Parsons aren't as clever as they think they are! Laughing

Sewell, is a typical example of someone with a plum in their mouth and a jar of pickles between their ears. I can't stand the man Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
