The government are planning too TAG altzemiers suffers similar to what they do with released prisoners.

The scheme will stop those who go missing whilst wondering off from families or nursing homes.

I think this is really bad, as it could also be added to those who have other medical diseases etc.. etc... It goes to show this country hasn't got those resorces like they did many years ago..

Hi mark,

The Alzheimer's society actually suports this move, if you look at this link http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7159287.stm ou will see that quite a large number of people with this condition have 'wandered off' at some point.
I don't think it is such a bad idea to be honest as it would help family members. nurses, etc to keep track of people.

But ask yourself which is the most important, money or the well being of a human?

I think it's a good idea. It will stop people complaining that we treat the sick and elderly worse than criminals! Wink

On a more serious note, the idea is not without merit. One of the biggest risks faced by dementia sufferers when they "wander off" is cold, resulting in many cases in death from hypothermia or exposure. This technology should be able to help them to be found in time.

What if the forget to wear the tag?
Will they start putting microchips in people instead? Why not actually have a real human looking after vulnerable people.

I was being flippant as to Ernie's question - "Why not actually have a real human looking after vulnerable people."

It costs too much money to have one to one care.

Most sufferers of this wretched disease, do have a real human looking after them, usually their spouse.
