The possibility of having an opt-out of post-death donation rather than an opt into it, is up for discussion again.

My attitude mirrors that of Sir Patrick Moore, who apparently has a note in his wallet that says "you can have the lot."

And I do wonder if personal sensitivities over the issue are outweighed by the urgent need for more organs.

However, it's clear that many people would have concerns if opt-out became the legal default and I'd be really interested to know your views.

I'm not entirely sure why there's a problem with harvesting organs after someone's death unless they specifically request that they shouldn't be (on say religious or health grounds) - it's not as if you need them once you've passed away, is it?

I'd have to opt out if this became law. I guess I would need to wear a tag but I would do so. Just my personal choice.

I'm really torn with this one. On one hand I have worries that the system could be abused for example giving up to quickly on one individual to save another. People who had opted out of donating being denied help, if they were in need themselves. That sort of thing. I suppose it depends on the procedures and safeguards they put into place before implementing a new system. Perhaps it would be better to improve the current system instead.

On the otherhand I have a young family member who has a life threatening illness (CF) and this in the future will eventually lead in all likelihood to the need for a heart lung transplant, to save our family members life. There is a shortage of organs and people die everyday before they get to the top of the list or a organ donor is found .

In the end I am willing donate which ever system is in place because how can I expect someone to do something, I'm not prepared to do myself.
