So, which was voted the best decade from the 50s - 90s?

Well I was surprised at the outcome, thinking the 60s would win easily, but to my horror, I found myself slowly agreeing with the speaker, journalist David Quantick, representing the 70s!
Looking back, there really were some great and diverse acts.

Radio listeners voted their top ten songs from the 60s -

(10) Tin Soldier, Purple Haze, She Loves You, House of the Rising Sun, My Generation, Suspicious Minds, Good Vibrations, Like a Rolling Stone, Waterloo Sunset, (1) Strawberry Fields.

Songs voted for by Radio2 listeners from the 70s were-

(10) Ever Fallen in Love with Someone, Born to Run, Cum on Feel the Noize, Wuthering Heights, Get it On, Heroes, God Save the Queen, Dancing Queen, Maggie May, (1) Stairway To Heaven.

Amongst groups chosen to represent the 70s in the show were-

Marc Bolan, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Neil Young, The Osmonds, David Essex, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Parliament (We want the Funk), Chic, Abba, Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks, Donna Summer, Blondie, Ian Dury & the Blockheads, Kraftwerk, The Jacksons and Blondie.

Quite a mix isn't it? but I can think of many many more.

I still think the 60s should have won though. I lost interest in it all to be honest.

I think the Pop Revival shows that were also on BBC4 were better but too similar to each other to be shown concurrently. Why couldn't the Pop on Trial series have followed the Revival one? There were several clips that were in both or on some of the other shows ( eg 6-5 special).
