Health chiefs are under fire for sending hundreds of life-size cardboard nurses to GPs' surgeries at a cost of £150,000 just weeks after they cut district nursing services.
The 6ft high figures – described by officials as "life-size standees" – are part of a campaign to reduce the spread of superbugs such as MRSA and C. difficile, and urge patients to wash their hands.

I know it's a waste of money, but they are not just paying for the cardboard, but the person who modeled for them? I doubt she would do it for nothing? |

She's an unusually smart, clean, dare I say feminine and old fashioned looking nurse, isn't she? Not the harassed young girl fresh from nursing college who's had something unpleasant spilt over her unisex polo shirt and trousers often seen in hospitals and surgeries. _________________ Ron |

Perhaps if they had 5 or 6 of them standing around together yapping about "last night" and drinking coffee, maybe I'd relate them to our local Hospital.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
