The driver of a car involved in a head-on collision which killed seven people had a conviction for drink driving, it is believed.

I think these people who are not understanding that any form of Motor Vehicle can end up a death trap. People are ignoring the warning signs that Drink Driving Kills. It doesn't matter if you have one alcoholic drink you could end up killing someone in your Killing machine. It's the same as people who constantly hide the warning signs that it's illegal to hold a Mobile Phone to your ear whilst moving in the vehicle. Also Speeding can kill. It doesn't matter if you are in a rush slow down or you could end up taking peoples with you too the grave?

Are people so stupid, do they not even see the warnings on TV and in the papers?R Is Britain a sleep with the News?

Stop, Think, Look, Slow and do what you need to before you step onto the Roads.

The car was overaking, mark, no evidence yet of alcohol-related cause.

I know the A429 to the Cotswolds very well. Most folk drive along it at 60mph so I don't recall ever having to overtake on that road. Some people just love to overtake for the sake of it.

This story has rightly received great prominence in the papers and TV news over the last couple of days. Yet this evening I still had to witness a completely reckless overtake on the A695 at the west end of Gateshead. Will they ever learn?

Ian.

They won't. It's time for some hard laws and penalties... I find the standard of driving and compliance with the speed limits a complete joke.

... and poor/inconsiderate/downright dangerous parking means that some of these drivers cause accidents even when they are stationary!

They're known as the "Must Be In Front" brigade.... you see them everywhere. I had someone undertake me at ~60mph along my local High Street this morning at around 0615 - he was using a lane that ended in a bus stop to pass me. Absolutely crazy. None of the Gatsos and yellow vultures in the country pick up drivers like that one, but woe betide you creeping 5 mph above the limit.... Rolling Eyes
