Is there any chance that Mo Dutta will ever do a daytime Radio 2 show?
he has been there 12 years but from memory i can not recall him EVER doing a daytime show.
Can anyone throw any light on whether he has.

This is my first post on here so Morning to one and all.
cheers

Welcome Mike, There is a lot of music based shows during the daytime hours and I wonder if Mo could handle this as he talks a lot? It's easy to have him where he is as not many people are wake wondering what he's mumbling on about. Laughing

Morning Occy!!!!

This board seems easy to follow so should be my new home.
Regarding Mo i do feel that if he hasn't been used daytime in 12 years he never will.

I have heard him occasionally but he always seems obsessed with the weather!!!!!

Mike,

Mo seems to talk about lifestyles and what the other presenters on the network have done during the week. He must have his ear to the radio 24/7. Shocked

Circa 1999/2000, Mo Dutta actually sat in for Sarah Kennedy for a WHOLE WEEK! However, he's never done so since! I can only presume that nobody likes "Toast and butter with Mo Dutta!" Sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I like Mo Dutta APART from his Saturday Quiz, which seems to go on and on and on and...how do the participants stay awake? Shocked

I'd like to hear a lot more of Mo Dutta on Radio 2 - weekdays 6.00 - 7.30am would be nice! I'd drive to work listening to him laughing at his sarcastic humour! I love it! Wink

Scott...given the choice would you rather have Mo Dutta or Tim Smith in the mornings?

Mo Dutta! I like Tim Smith but I think he would be too bland first thing. He's OK for an overnight presenter, though. Mo Dutta's magical mumblings would give me a huge lift first thing! Very Happy

The weather( mainly sunshine), Mince Pies at Christmas, Sausages and Sun-hats in the summer..... that's Mo Very Happy he's lovely.

I tease him now and again, when he mentions that it's raining in Birmingham, I text or e-mail him with (often) ficticious sunny weather reports from here in the South Smile

Hi Guys, first posting on here. Yeah, I would like to hear a daytime show from Mo. I first heard and liked his show on very early shopping trips to Tesco. I've read comments about his monotone manner but I just think he's got a dry delivery - like he's not taking it all too seriously.

Sometimes MO reminds me of one of those people who cold call and try to sell you computer consumables.
Pleasant but not breathtaking if you get my drift!!!!

If Mo Dutta gave me a cold call, I wouldn't be rude to him! He'd make a pretty good salesman, anyway. He'd talk so much that you would say "yes" just to get rid of him! Laughing

I think 'dry humour' sums him up - I caught about 40 minutes of his show this morning while I was deciding whether or not to get up! Smile

Christmas trees and the Radio 2 office party (with turkey for a change) seemed to be the order of business this morning. The papers review was also subject to his usual brand of early morning sarcasm.

Gave up with the quiz though (got up instead!) as it seems too long-winded and drawn out - the introduction to the contestant consumes around three or four minutes of airtime alone.

Inoffensive, placid, slightly sarcastic in places - pleasant enough at the end of the day (or first thing in the morning, as it were) - but he doesn't deliver enough impact to register on my radar much, I'm afraid. Having said that, I probably wouldn't instinctively reach for the 'off' switch when the radio switches on in the morning.

What was he on about this morning? Something about the BBC canteen and a non-story about how they mislaid the Christmas decorations and had to buy new ones? There was no punchline or point to the story whatsoever. Even Sarah Kennedy would have baulked at telling that story.

Does Mo get the left over anecdotes that no other DJ wants?

Damn! I missed Mo Dutta this morning! Mind you, I do have a hangover from last night...head feels like two woodpeckers are at it...Mo Dutta might have made it worse! I remember laying in bed listening to him one Saturday morning (with a hangover) and ended up throwing up!

Mo Dutta seems to have more problems with his car than what Basil Fawlty did! Laughing Laughing

I do like Mo Dutta - I like his humour and style. Just perfect for the Dawn Patrol! Make it happen, Lesley Douglas! Cool

He didnt tell us much about the Radio 2 Christmas party. He said he was diappointed that Tim Smith didnt perform his wheel of death performance Idea whatever he means by that.

Remember Sarah Kennedy's gaff last year when she told us all how it cost!

Her boasting about the cost of the evening got her into a lot of trouble with the management.

I think he twists other DJs words and ideas into his show and what the weekday Djs have been doing in their shows in the week.

Some classic Mo Dutta quotes:

"What is the point to Your Hundred Best Tunes when they've been played a thousand times already? No wonder they have a former BBC TV newsreader hosting the show!" [followed by Mo Dutta's laugh]

"It's now time to wake up to the best Sunday show on Radio 2 after three hours of snooze fest." [followed by Mo Dutta's laugh - this was Mo's dig at Helen Mayhew one Sunday morning]
