Can we really take seriously Russell Grant and his star gazing segment on the Steve Wright Show.

This part of the Show is nothing short of a joke.

Quality Radio I don't think so-it's dreadful/embarassing.

I agree. But, it's so ridiculous and embarrassing it's actually entertaining! Confused I hate Russell Grant too....

Mark O-Of course he did as Richard is the complete professional.

That is not the point I am making-I'm taking about the segment in the proceedings itself. Rolling Eyes

I really don't know what you require? The stars are fine and how else would you present it? Russell Grant has been around for years.

"I really don't know what you require".

Let me think about that for one tiny second.

Cut the feature out completely! It's complete rubbish/nonsense. Replace it with some other naff subject. Even better give Steve Wright and his posse a one ticket to somewhere-Iraq/Afghanistan maybe.

Bloody good idea Mark M.

I can just see that, after ten minutes of "Great Show Steve, Love the Show Steve" The Taliban would be throwing away their weapons and surrendering. Mind you, they would probabaly claim that Wright was worse torture than Guantanemo.

Anyway, since astrology has been discredited, why is it still there?

It's no more naff than Ask Elvis is it? it's just a bit of fun for us non believers.
I'll bet you two always listen out for your star sign though! Laughing

But, if you dislike the Big Show so much, why are you listening in the first place?

Let me be clear-I very rarely listen to Steve Wright and his posse because his show is so bloody terrible. I only listen in when someone else covers for him eg Richard Allinson or there is a guest interview which I am interested in hearing. The segment I was referring to re Russell Grant and his star gazing was a feature when Richard Allinson covered for Steve Wright on Monday last. I think Richard even finds it hard to retain a sense of professionalism in respect of this feature-I'm sure he wants to burst out laughing at the stupidity of the punters who listen to Grant's every word and those who believe the nonsense he spouts.

Occasionally my wife will have Steve Wright and his Sunday Love Songs Show on in the kitchen-even I can hear her taking the piss out of the moron when he makes his stupid comments.

Mark M. I could have written that myself, word for word. I did hear the first few minutes of SLS. Opening track was Andy Williams and guess what? Yep, the cringing mediocrity started singing along. How did Andy have such a long career without Wright's wailing. I have emailed the BBC asking them to make him stop, mainly because his singing sounds like a Dalek struggling with a particularly difficult bowel movement, but I don't hold out any hope.

Hi Number Six-Brilliant response.

By the way I am a massive Prisoner fan-I'm a member (one of the few remaining) of Six of One.

Will be making the annual visit to Portmeirion later this year.

There won't be any point in reminding you that the series is being repeated on ITV4 this week then Smile

Just bought the 40th anniversary box set. Wonderful stuff

And I'm not at all jealous about you going to Portmeirion Rolling Eyes

Mark Radcliffe And Liza Tarbuck this week. How do you know what Richard thinks? I think he was quite enjoying the segment. The problem is people take Steve Wright too serious and expect every show too be scripted. I think Steve trys to hold back his laughter. Hey don't take Radio to serious, Marky M
