I have just come from Stalinville, otherwise known as the BBC Message Boards, in this case the BBC 5Live Boards.
I dared to post a link to a comment by Melanie Phillips there. The thread was instantly deleted.
Why does the BBC hate democracy & freedom of speech so much?
The BBC censorship is worse than that Stalin imposed in Russia at the height of his paranoa |

If it doesn't appear in print, then it never happened!! A bit like a child who covers it's eyes and says it can't see anyone. I fail to see the purpose of a message board if all that appears on it is sycophantic adolation. Thank God for this one.

Yes, I agree
I don't understand why the authorities at the BBC MBs insist on such tight control & censorship.
Certainly, blatantly offensive & insulting material can be taken off.
But the article I posted was simply putting forward a point of view.
Surely the fair & free exchange of views is what MBs should be all about.
I can't stand John Pilger, but i wouldn't expect an article by him posted by someone to be zapped because I don't agree with it.
Let the post stand & let others argue for & against it. That's what democracy is all about |

Clive, MB censorship was what brought most of us here in the first place. _________________ Geddon

It must have been the best part of a year since I was on the beeb boards. John allows us expressive freedom provided we don't upset people too much _________________ Geddon
