I love a lot of Radio 2 presenters, including Russell Davies and Desmond Carrington. |

I think most of us, posting on here, love most of R2, I certainly do, its my favourite radio station. I think that Bob Harris, KB, JW, RA, Radders, Brian Matthew, Wogan the Wart, Paul Jones, Desmond Carrington, Nick Barraclough, Suzi Q & JV do a good job, there are some I can take or leave and CE, Wossy & David Jacobs I cannot stand to listen to at all; as for Wrighty, well I only listen as he provides a vehicle to vent my spleen at, so therapeutic to be able to shout for him to shut the **** up . Completely dissolves any tendency towards road rage

I like listening to most of the presenter and cover ones too. I dont listen to all parts of R2. The only problem I have is there is a lot of celebrity stars hosting shows, and is making the station feel and sound uncomfortable. Thats my opinion!! |

I don't listen to R2 all day either, although I do listen to much more now that certain members of this board have recommended other shows to listen to!
'Listen Again' to each week: Alex Lester, Terry Wogan, Ken Bruce, Bob Harris, Richard Allinson, Stuart Maconie, Paul Gambaccini, Mark Lamarr
Happy to listen to when they are on, will 'Listen Again' to if have time: Suzi Quatro, Mike Harding, Jeremy Vine, Mark Radcliffe, Mark Goodier, documentaries
Tolerate - not bothered one way or the other: Janice Long, Mo Dutta, Sarah Kennedy, Richard Baker, Nick Barraclough, Aled Jones
Trip my 'cringe' meter so get switched off: Jonathan Ross, Chris Evans, Steve Wright, Pete Mitchell
Dislike with a passion (mostly because, like Mark says, I'm not happy with the gradual slide towards 'celebrity shows' hosted by the current "Billy-no-talent" of the week): Dermot O'Leary, Russell Brand
As for the rest, I've not really heard enough to judge. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

PS Was very disappointed with The Beatles - Love show today, too much like the programme on TV I watched the other night. There you go a gripe _________________ Old Bikers Never Die, our leathers just get tighter! |

Hi BB,
I'm still in US (leaving today) and did not catch the LOve show, indeed I've only heard two tracks so far. I was Beatles fan as a teenager in the 60's and I've no great desire to hear these remixes, there my gripe is in there now.
Happy New Year to all gripers.

Hi John, and all,
That's my feeling about the Beatles as well, although it was fascinating to see George Martin and his son in the studio. I've always marvelled in how recordings are put together and from an early age used to watch my Dad make his own reel-to-reel tapes of Frank Sinatra and others of that time from his records, for his own pleasure of course. I wish mini discs had been invented 30 years ago not whenthey were!
I saw the Beatles live and for me the original recordings, on mono, are still the best. I don't mind hearing the odd one but it was interesting that Paul put his foot down and said 'no' to any changes to Yesterday.
Back to R2, I'm concerned of the lack of music background of a lot of the latest signings to the station. It's all me me me.
I don't listen as much as I used to, no Drivetime, I'd rather sit in silence than endure CE and often forget to switch back on at 7. It's amazing how you soon lose the habit, unintentially of course.

Same thing happened to me on Saturday afternoons after RA was replaced by DOL. I now switch off after SM (or just Listen Again to him some other time) and completely forget about PG and ML's shows. Consequently I now miss out on the last two named and have to make a fairly concerted effort to remember and allocate time to listen later on. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
