I know there is a full board about it you know where [its the only thing you can talk about over there Laughing ] but what did you think?

It reminded me of the Desmond Carrington show music wise, quite good and eclectic. The script was quite entertaining and knowledgeable

BUT

his accent is extremely hard to follow. He mumbles and must have the worst radio voice I've ever heard. Usually I can put up with this (even John Barrowman & Elaine Paige I can cope with) but Dylan will be a huge struggle. I think I may give up on the show because of it.

I didn't listen, I'm not keen on Bob Dylan at all. I heard the trailer and his voice drove me mad so I knew I couldn't listen to the whole show Laughing

As Johnny Depp said in Charlie and the chocolate factory "you know you really shouldn't mumble because I can't understand a word you're saying" Laughing

I'm sure it was a treat for fans of Bob so I hope they enjoyed it

The BBC already have Carrington doing a theme show but dont show it much support.

The first show was on the theme of radio, so he played loads of jingles and interview snippets from people talking about radio. He mentioned the cross the border stations in Mexico which broadcast into the US which was interesting & news to me.

I'm enjoying Bob Dylan's Christmas Eve show. A lot of tracks I've never heard. Watch out Desmond.

Can't say his accent is a problem for me, but I've worked (and lived) with Americans for 25 years.

I wondered who the heck it was! sounds like a cross between a deep south blues player and a garbage disposal unit.. Shocked
Music is good though, wish I were recording it, and I enjoyed the Des show about radio too, if that's what I was listening to the other night. Excellent.

Yes, I enjoyed it too, a rather rich diverse selection (with Elvis Costello at the end, which I was surprised but pleased with). His voice and diction took a bit of getting used to (and understanding in places), but I wasn't overly bothered.

Couldn't listen to tonight's Dylan Theme Hour as I was listening to a CD by Kate Aumonier that I've just bought from my Amazon wish list (310 strong and dropping fast!), but I'll remedy that through "Listen Again" shortly - before the Lew Grade documentary which I've decided I want to listen to, if only because I caught the themes to "Thunderbirds" and "UFO" during the trailer this morning! Smile (Brings back memories of a childhood raised on Gerry Anderson's puppet shows....)

I've realised that I rarely manage to actually listen to anything in 'real time' any more - thank heavens for "Listen Again".... Very Happy

Few of em sound like that. I used to work for a company with a HQ in Atlanta and the accents were more Duke Of Hazzard than Boy Dylan.

Heh, heh, I haven't met many Southerners, just folks Noo Yawk, Noo Joisy, Pittsburg, Cleveland.

His Christmas show was so good Exclamation Some really rare (for us) blues, doo-wop and American 'novelty items' Smile

A possible replacement for Desmond Carrington, methinks!

I agree - it is a good show from what I have heard of it.

I've not heard any of them, was busy when they were on and I've not got around to 'listening again'.

Could you say which was a good one to try, don't think I've time for all of them?

Were you able to get them on you WiFi radio Ernie? Mine is being a bit temperamental just now.

Friday nights, 9.00 - 10.00pm I believe! It starts in early January 2007. I reckon the show should be broadcast on Radio 2 instead (Tuesday nights at 7pm would be a good place for it). Wink
