Defence officials have justified giving Prince William permission to land a helicopter in a field belonging to his girlfriend Kate Middleton's family.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) issued a statement after the News of the World reported William touched down at the Middletons' Berkshire home on 3 April.

Can anyone else remember where it was rumoured Prince Andrew parked his helicopter when he was courting Fergie. Apparently he had to fold the rotors back though.......... _________________ Standing on Ray Moore's shoulders |

One of the papers reported this story as "Prince William parks his chopper in Kate's back paddock...."
I'm too much of a gentleman to comment further....
It was classed as a legitimate training flight, and he was a passenger - this sort of thing happens more times than the public realise, and not just for VIPs either. Ordinary aircrew often get 'dropped off' at various sites and airports on the pretense of training flights - the aircraft do have to fly somewhere, so one way-point on a navigational training exercise is as good as another. You might not realise it, but your local small air display might also be treated as a "nav-ex" by aircrew - they've got to find your town/seaside when they're flying to it, after all. A Tucano crew once did a talk for my aviation group some years ago - they flew up to Newcastle from Linton and treated it as a proper 'nav-ex', stayed in a B&B that night then did another ex on the way home the following morning.
The comments I've read re "this Chinook would have been better employed in Afghanistan" are laughable though, and show just how the majority of the public misunderstand the military - do people expect the RAF to completely stop training flights in the UK and send all their machines to the 'Stan? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Isn't that kind, dear? William popped in on his way to a party and offered to walk the Corgis." _________________
