Former deputy prime minister John Prescott has confessed to suffering from the eating disorder bulimia.

He told BBC News 24 that he suffered in misery and in silence for 10 years because of the shame of being a high-profile man with the illness.

I know there will be some criticism about this? I would expect those of you will use some discretion Wink You would expect he be like that as you look at him. I suppose it was a different type of stress which made him eat and be sick? At least he's brave enough to admit it?

I was amazed that he drank a whole can of condensed milk and it all came back up.

I'm not knocking Prescott or other bulimics, but I thought of Lenny Henry talking about 'DCM - de condensed milk!' on Tiswas several years ago and making condensed milk sandwiches as the character Algernon.

Maybe Prescott watched Tiswas?

I suppose it is some consolation that, whilst we'll never know what Gordon and co. have done with all our money, we at least now know who ate all the pies! Wink

Mr Prescott has a book to sell. The press are helping him in this endeavour as they will with Mr Blair. As an Old Labour voter, I will not be buying either of them. Rolling Eyes

I never thought much of Prescott, but this appears to have been a genuine condition.
as to Tony Blair, I will be buying his book. One of the truly great men of the 20th/21st Century

Such a great man that he took us into an illegal and immoral war.

I like Jo Brand's account of suffering from half-bulimia.

She does the binge eating but forgets to throw up afterwards.

Ian.
What is immoral about freeing a country from a brutal, facist dictator?

There is peace in Iraq? When did this happen Clive? Did they find the WMDs that we were told were the reason to invade a sovereign country?

Exactly. Of course I was pleased to see the overthrow of Saddam Hussein but that wasn't the stated objective when we went into this war.

Five years on (with no WMD found) Iraq is hardly a haven of peace and tranquility, is it? Not to mention the effects of the war on all the bereaved British families or the servicemen who've suffered terrible injuries.

I hope Mr Blair can sleep soundly at night.

A sovereign country?
Like Hitlers Germany was!
Saddam was carrying out genocide against the Marsh Arasbs & Kurds.
Any political oponent was tortured & killed
His sons were systematicly picking 14 year old girls off the street, torturing & raping them, then killing them. If the family of the girl complained, they were killed
Bathist Iraq was a blight on humanity as was Nazi Germany, & as is Iran under the Mullas & Assads Syria
The liberation of Iraq was a great thing
Ask any Iraqui Kurd

According to all gthe information at the time, Iraq had WMD. Saddam himself believed this. His aids were too scared to tell him otherwise.
In any case, the outcome was right
Iraq is relatively peaceful
I would be happier walking Baghdad at night than walking in Peckham at night.
Blair is a hero. A modern day Moses!! Moses led hios own people out of slavery. Blair led another people out of slavery
It took the Hebrew Children 40 years to get to the promised land.
Give Iraq 40 years. It will be a promised land for its own people at last
At the end of WW2 Germany was a basket case & shamed. Today Germany is one of the most succesful countries in Germany. It was remade, & thank God for that. So with Iraq. But it takes time

Clive, all your views seem to be coloured by your pro-Israeli bias, which are similar to the 'my country right or wrong' nonsense. The Neo-Con Pro-Israelis and Bush aided by Blair weren't interested in 'liberating' Iraq from a nasty dictator they were after the oil. That is why they moved to war instead of waiting for Hans Blix to report the truth. Accept this and take off your blinkers. As for thinking that Baghdad is peaceful now this is just plain silly. Israelis may think they are the chosen people and are still waiting for their Messiah, but this too flies in the face of reason.

This has nothing to do with the state of Israel. Israelis, BTW, are largely secular & mostly not expecting a mesiah any time soon
If you are looking for religious fanaticism look no further than the so-called "Palestinians" or "Narnians".
Iraq is far better without Saddam Hussein just as Germany is far better without Hitler.
As to violence=Baghdad is safer for its average inhabitants than Peckham. Fact
