Seems like the listeners are slowly settling in with the changes. Also the Cover presenters seem to be helping? (Aled Jones and Simon Mayo)

Telegraph says

Other success stories include Chris Evans, who has increased his drivetime audience by 620,000 to 5.43 million in the past 12 months. Sarah Kennedy, Jonathan Ross and Ken Bruce also recorded healthy ratings rises.

Cant understand the sudden spurt in the figures TBH.

That could be the reason, although Radio 2 resembles a lot of daytime tv Laughing

Quote:
Year-on-year figures showed Evans has increased his drivetime audience by 620,000 and now has 5.43 million listeners tuning in to his Monday to Friday show (broadcast at 5 to 7pm).

The star was delighted with the figures.

He said: "Dreamsville. Absolute Dreamsville. It's all down to the team. We love what we do. We all get on really well. It still feels like we've only just started.

"We had a philosophy before we began two years ago, we've stuck to it unerringly and now we're seeing the results we all hoped for.

"Ultimately it's always about the listeners.
Laughing
"They vote every day with their tuning knobs. We are very much aware that they have never had more choice, and we're only too grateful that they can find it in their wisdom to choose us."

As Mark would say, its all about the listeners Laughing

Total TV audiences have actually gone up this quarter - the first time in 3 years.

I think this is because of the aggressive marketing by Virgin and Sky, who've both boosted subscribers, and it might be that the radio stations available though the TV have benefited.

But, apart from that guess I'm also baffled by the sudden spurt.

Messers Maconie and Radcliffe will still be disappointed as the "Listen Again" figures aren't officially counted. Still unsure why anyone listens to the fat talentless idiot that is Chris Moyles..

I can't understand how anyone can listen to Russel Brand, Chris Evans, Steve Wright, Jonathan Ross or those less-than-funny (IMO) 'comedians' on 6 music, Not to mention George Lamb, for whom the trailers are enough to dissuade me from ever tuning in. Thank heavens for Ken Bruce.

Evans talks so loud that you don't need a radio to hear him, hence the increase in his (involuntary) listeners.
