Topics on today's show:-

BURMA - At least 15000 people have been killed in the cyclone that struck Burma over the weekend. Do we have a duty to provide aid to Burma?

CCTV - A senior police officer has said that the billions spent on CCTV have failed to cut crime and led to an 'utter fiasco'. Has CCTV worked in your area?

SCOTTISH INDEPENDENCE - The Scottish Labour Party leader has called on the Scottish Government to "bring on" a referendum on independence.

UK PARENTS TO FACE JUDGE - A British couple who allegedly got so drunk that they passed out while in charge of their three young children will appear before a Portuguese judge today.

BURMA - Do we have a duty to provide aid to Burma?

No more duty than any other nation I would say, but isn't it about time the world's nations set up a real International Rescue body - free of political encumbrances? ( and based someplace other than the USA ) Big job I know but to me it makes sense.

CCTV

I couldn't believe my ears listening to this! surely these cameras must have reduced crime or helped solve a lot of it? I don't think they mentioned the use the cameras have in tracking the last movements of terrorists, robbers cars or missing kids either.
Personally, I'd like to see more of them.
Maybe it is the case already, but perhaps the "Police" as such shouldn't be monitoring the cameras, but civilian staff.
I just don't see how a video of an ongoing crime or the start of a street brawl is anything other than a useful tool to the Police.

UK PARENTS TO FACE JUDGE

Too many unknowns in this story so far, but if they did get themselves blind drunk with kids in tow - they deserve everything they get. Disgraceful.

Parents who passed out after drinking - If it's proved their drinks were spiked I'll retract this but it seems to me that it's another embarrassing situation of Brits abroad.

I'd be ashamed to be British if I lived over there.

why is it everytime there is a world disaster the begging bowls get sent to Britain? the United Nations must get millions in aid to fund world disaster zones contributed by memeber nations, why do they have to be begging for more? they should be organised to get the rescue operations in place and anything else they need?
