Anyone hear the trailer for Hot Gossip earlier? Seems the Candyman is a panelist on the new Comedy Hour show this Saturday.

May be actually worth listening to...?

And where's Lady B nowadays?

I was only thinking the other day, what happened to Lady Boil De Spudswell? I miss her incisive comments. Anyone know what her Ladyship is up to?

Don't suppose anyone caught Danny's Easter special - Live at the Hackney Empire with the BBC Concert Orchestra (yes, I did say the BBC Concert Orchestra!) performing some of the incidental music from Danny's show?

I was there (unsurprisingly) in the audience. Just a great night and one in the eye for those who still have the great man down as some sort of loud-mouth rebel rouser. There wasn't a dry eye when they performed the Railway Children music!! Also treated to a wonderful Sondheim set, The old ITN news theme and various other orchestral interpretations of instrumentals Danny uses as beds in his radio show. Simply brilliant.

Think there were a lot of FNIMN regulars in the front row too?!!

It may still be available to listen again via the BBC London site.

Ah yes, the voice of intelligent, open-minded, non-stereotypical maturity. I love it!

Maybe he might be a bit opinionated but I'd much rather have someone with a bit of passion and vitality, than someone like Richard Allinson who seems like he reads everything from a script.

Sounds great - I did see it listed on the BBC Concert Orchestra Newsletter, so I assume that's how the FNIMN people were there too. I shall see if it's online anywhere...

Unsurprisingly I recorded it Ian, so if you can't find it anywhere, PM me and I'll burn you off a copy.

I might add... Ah yes, Deptford! Danny's birthplace. That well-known 'East End' location that has somehow ended up... in South London!?!

Full marks for geography there old fruit!

I heard the broadcast - this guy deserves a permanent slot on Radio 2!

Let's hope The Candy Man's stint on The Comedy Hour is the first stages of him getting his own show on Radio 2! Razz

You know that for sure do you? Remember, Danny Baker is one of Lesley Douglas' favourite broadcasters. Many of her favourites have made it onto Radio 2, even as recurring presenters.
