Police are to interview Chris Evans over claims he made this week that he took a class A drug recently.Evans faces a potential 7 year jail sentence if the claims are true. This could have potentially serious implicaitons for Evans future on Radio 2 methinks.A radio 2 spokseperson is 'refusing to comment' on the news-ominous for Chris !News here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/03/27/nevans127.xml

Policeman: Did you take those mushrooms?

Evans: Maybe

Policeman: Where they magic?

Evans: Well I turned into a top Radio 2 presenter after taking them. Does that count?

I think you should take this more seriously-kids are dying from these sort of drugs.Celebrities have a duty to set an example. In my view the likes of Amy Winehouse should be behind bars!

Build more prisons then, as most of the tv & radio industry will be in jail soon by that criteria. Maybe they can turn Butlins into a prison. Laughing

Maybe the time would be better spent catching muggers, rapists, burglers, etc.
I don't condone what Chris might have done but really there is no proof is there. Confused

Think Terry might be addicted to Baileys and snorkers but that's about it. Laughing

I would like to see Richard Allinson given the job-after all he has good experience in covering DJ's/presenters who have had drug problems.

I wouldn't be too sure. Anyone remember Frank Bough?

Didn't the get rid off Johnnie Walker for a while for drug taking?

There is a problem with BBC presenters who have taken drugs in the last few years. Richard Bacon was sacked then back at the beeb. I'm sure this is a concern when you are a broadcaster you can slip up and talk about your life.

I think the blog where Chris was said had written about this was removed?

Johnny was suspended and made to go to rehab - which he apparently is very grateful to the BBC for. They made him put his life in order and he's felt much more positive about things since the experience.

As for Frank Bough - whoa, that was a shocker, wasn't it? I wouldn't be surprised if some media veterans have similar stories hidden away.

Richard Bacon and Angus Deayton were sacked by the BBC for their drug related offences, but are now safely back in the fold with radio and TV work. Who says crime doesn't pay?

Crime does pay! Have you listened to Radio 2 between 5 and 7. That is a crime against the ears and Evans gets paid lots for it.

Richard Bacon is a crime against humanity!

Technically, Deayton was sacked by production company Hat Trick (run by people not unaware of the white stuff) and not the BBC but in both above cases I'm sure the broadcaster would argue it was the nature of their job that caused the sacking rather than the offence.

This Chris Evans story should come as no surprise to anyone who knows his ex-wife's nickname...

Maybe he could be arrested for impersonating a Radio 2 presenter? Very Happy

It's "Chazbaps" after she allegedly let her boyfriend snort cocaine off her breasts.

Give it a few more weeks. He might crack under the Met's fierce interogation.
