Jose Mourinho? I remember Erikson was in talks with Chelsea when he was England Manager?

Sad, but predictable given Abramovich's penchant for not settling for anything but second best. He possibly lost face back home given last week's defeat at the hands of Man Ure, if so, then this is the fallout. Even coming second in the Premiership doesn't guarantee you keeping your job.... As a Chelsea fan and season ticket holder this is the right decision.

Avram might have been a nice person but he was in over his head. The style of football has been pretty poor.

I wonder who will be the new manager.

Feel sorry for Avram. I dont think he could have done much more to win the CL last week. Chelsea were desperately unlucky.

Still the £5m payoff will soften the blow.

Carling Cup Final - Champions League Final - Runners up in the title race

And that's a poor style of football?

The best recipe for continued success is to keep the manager and sell the players on when they're not performing. Like Alex Ferguson and Man Utd, who I'm not a fan of by the way.

Roman Abramovich should stop sacking managers & start shooting them if he wants to instill a win at all costs mentality in the club.

Avram Grant was always a stop-gap measure until one of the better known managers became available.

Why do they want Reikard though when he has been a huge failure in Spain?

I would like to see Roberto Mancini appointed-failing that Mark Hughes would be my second choice.

But maybe it was the quality of players that got them so far in competitions?

Let's see what the players say to the papers about Grant.

Drogba was a prat, get rid of him.

I disagree.

Drogba can be an idiot at times, on other occasions though he can be a world beater.

I bet most football fans would like him to be in their team when he is on song.

I think he stay with Chelsea unless Jose makes a return to management. If Jose does return-say with one of the Milan clubs then he will probably make a move for him.

I think Richard Allinson should be given the job. That would end all of the speculation about his future on Radio 2 Laughing

Sadly Richard is an Arsenal fan.

Think that small detail might put him out of the reckoning. Laughing
