Anyone read his 'English Journey'? What did you think? _________________ Eternal nothingness is fine if you happen to be dressed for it. |

OK. What about Jackie Collins then? Anyone think she writes like a 13 year old who has been allowed to use swear words? _________________ Eternal nothingness is fine if you happen to be dressed for it. |

JB Priestley or Jackie Collins?
Jackie Collins- I have known more mature 12 year olds
I've read a couple by B Priestley- the Good Companions & Let The people Sing (I think)
Is English Journey what the title suggests- or is it fictional? |

I've read a few J B Priestley's...they are a bit thin othe ground now aren't they...! I loved Good Companions...
I love his plays too...more should be on the telly....!
Jackie Collins....not keen...ok for not very discerning teenagers...!
My favourite book is Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier..
I also like thrillers...love to escape with a good A Christie....! |

'English Journey' is non-fictional and is Priestley's account of his travels through England in 1933 - dealing with his increasing concerns about social problems in depression torn England.
To quote:
'Being a rambling but truthful account of what one man saw and heard and felt and thought during a journey through England during the Autumn of 1933'
It's an extremely powerful read.
PS: I Love 'Rebecca' _________________ Eternal nothingness is fine if you happen to be dressed for it. |

When I was at school we had to read Three Men in a Boat for an English exam - and as I have always been an avid reader it was no hardship! Loved it. The sequel Three Men on the Bummel is also good. _________________ Friends may come and friends may go, but enemies tend to accumulate. |

read 'An Inspector Calls' at the beginning of secondary school - didn't like it much and the play we subsequently went to see of it was terrible _________________ I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering. |
