There was a documentry on the TV early in the year about how familys who have problems with their children use a " Naughty Step". They use one of the stairs STEPS' obviously if you dont live in a bunglow, and get the child to sit on it if they are naughty ( trying to get ours to sit on one they just laugh ) I see there is a section set up for this in the forum. Maybe slightly going over the top as we all should be adults ( well hope so? ) Still never mind..

Hey Mark,

Thanks for the feedback, unfortunately in the past couple of weeks it has been a necessity to implement the naughty step and to enforce a few rules. We had hoped we wouldn't need to police the board, but I suppose every board has some trouble from time to time.

The naughty step is just there to remind us that as a community we have to be aware that other people use the board, and may be offended by 'effing and jeffing' and direct argumentative insults.

Scott wondered if he could have his own personal naughty step? with his name on it. Cool
or maybe we could have a flight of naughty steps. Each offence would raise the offender up a step until they reach the top, then they would be banished to the BBC Bob Dylan Board! Shocked
too terrible to contemplate......

I'm asleep already.

I had to laugh, upon a quick visit to the old boards, I noticed the posters there are up in arms because the mods have closed a thread about Charlie Drake!
Apparently, too much reflecting about Charlie's shows and humour and not enough about his musical achievements!!
More lost posters I reckon....

I remember Price Is Right' and the skier went up the slop if the contestant got the price of the item wrong. Once it got to the top it fell off.. Shocked

Never mind, the workmen might come around to those who are naughty and dig a deep hole for them!! Laughing

Too much policing will render this board very dull.

Folk should be able to air their negatuve views about Radio 2 programmes as well as their positive views providing it is done in a polite way.

I agree Mark. Scott's behaviour cannot be tolerated at R2ok while the website exists with the music-presenter-respect policy and that policy is carried over to here. Repetitive spam, which ruined R2mb, will be punished and removed.

Scott's latest postings appeared to the moderators to be an attempt to make the policing of the site LOOK over the top. But in fact because of the repetitive nature of the spam the policing was only dealing with one issue and one poster.

An extended ban will therefore be applied, and the repetitive postings and responses will be removed permanently, from 1/1/07.

Hi Mark,

I agree. You cannot have a balanced view without the views of both sides of an argument. I also believe that moderation always needs to be kept to a minimum, but, in order to keep moderation to a minimum, we have to make sure that people adhere to the house rule, especially:

2. Continual spamming of opinions, especially opinions moaning about a particular presenter or show, will not be tolerated. This Forum is not aimed at descending into the public denigration of respected broadcasters.

3. An intelligent, well thought out discussion is always welcome on the R2OK boards so any discussion regarding the bad points of a show/presenter will be appreciated.

We do not want to stop people from posting negative remarks as long as they are constructive, but continual spamming of 'Xxx is crap' or xxx is a dullard' or 'axe, just axe!' will not be tolerated. These particular posts are of absolutely no value to this board whatsoever, so need to be stopped.

We do not interfere with well thought out discussions, and as rule number 3 states : An intelligent, well thought out discussion is always welcome on the R2OK boards so any discussion regarding the bad points of a show/presenter will be appreciated.

The naughty step Laughing

Scott loves to be naughty have you no idea how to tame the big bad boy? Wink

Personally I think it is wrong for admin/mods to publicise these things but that's just my opinion I can't see it working on our site no matter how naughty they are I respect people's right to confidentiality too.

Hi Admin/John-Okay all good points which you make HOWEVER Scott makes a number of very good points in his various posts which I am sure a great number of us agree with.

Many of his posts contain very good content/observations which I agree with. I enjoy reading his posts so what about cutting him some slack.

If this board turns into "Radio 2 is just perfect" with no room for any constructive critisicsm/tongue in cheek commentary then it will be become very boring very quickly.

Live and let live John/admin.

Rant over-back to this great message board now.

Well put Mark I was going to put that Scott's comments are often very tongue in cheek if people chose to take the bait - John in particular, then well it could stagnate.

But at the end of the day it's up to John how he runs his site I respect that Smile

Hi BDG-For the last months of the BBC mesage boards I missed your fine contribution-you used to make some great postings in the distant past.

Regarding your last message-yes of course Mr Wright must run his site in the best way he think fits. I concur 100% with that sentiment.

Thanks Mark and BDG for your comments.

I do appreciate the contributions that Scott can make to forums, but for this forum I don't appreciate his tiresome 'cheekiness' that made R2MB impossible for many to enjoy.

R2OK has a policy and Scott's so-called 'cheekiness' does not fit in with it. Other posters on here are 'cheeky' but Scott's style does not fit.

Every time Scott is banned he contacts me and recognises his faults, and HE ACCEPTS that he is doing wrong, agrees with the bannings, so if he is being honest he does in fact NOT agree with what Mark and BDG said above Smile

The fact that Scott very quickly breaks the rules again is something only he can figure out. His behaviour gives the impression of someone deliberately aiming to disrupt the forum, and so as well as banning him most of his disruptive messages and the responses are moved or removed.
