Looks like the BBC have dropped their tradition Radio 2 coverage of Guilfest. Commercial Radio are going to be the main sponsors for the main stage. Wonder why Auntie isn't getting involved? Could it be the cost?

Yeah - I remember Radcliffe and Maconie venting steam about this some while ago.

Guildfest is still happening, It's just that Radio 2 won't be there. I don't know who will be announcing the turns on the No1 stage this year.

If one of the commercial radio networks is sponsoring part or all of the event I would assume that the same network has the radio broadcasting rights on the gig. That would therefore explain why any of the BBC's networks won't be broadcasting.

It's almost certainly down to BBC cutbacks but it's great that the festival can survive without BBC money. I just hope the cutbacks don't affect those things that can't...
