I missed out the words "apart from Jeremy Vine who is on at 12 o'clock."

Think the time has come for this type of current afairs programme to be ditched in favour of a music led show.

If you read the charter for Radio 2 N&C is in it for the network to host speech type shows.

We moan on the old boards Lester, Allinson, Goodier and Mitchell should be given more daytime cover work, and then it closes and they get a shot at it and some moan about it. You can never win Rolling Eyes

Laughing Laughing

Never mind! January is a GOOD MONTH for ME!

Why?

Because Pete Mitchell is presenting the 2-5pm slot whilst Steve Wright is away participating in Celebrity Fat Club! Razz

Actually, I like Dale Winton on the 2-5pm slot. He seems much better hosting that slot than what he does Pick of the Pops. As for Lulu, she's not that bad, either. I'd love to hear her host the Dawn Patrol but somehow, I can't imagine her getting up at 4am every weekday morning!

If this is going to turn this into a predication thread? I think Ken Bruce may move to weekends at some stage? Margherita Taylor might leave Capital Radio and move to R2?

They should move Ken Bruce to Radio Scotland. I cannot stand that bloke. The sooner he's axed, the better.

As for Margerhita Taylor, she would be fine on Radio 2, a good host of Sunday Love Songs.

The problem I found is not many people know who pete is if they hadn't listened to him on Virgin. Then Lesley poached him for Radio 2 and put him on overnights and wasn't really given a daytime airing. I hope he will be given more cover work after next week?

Mark, I'm sure Pete Mitchell will eventually get a daytime slot on Radio 2. I would like to hear him on Saturday afternoons hosting "The Saturday Social". Basically, the show could go out from 2.00 - 6.00pm and feature the following:

* Live music

* Champion the best new music out there as well as promote up-and-coming artists

* Interactivity with the listeners (i.e requests, competitions, phone-ins, etc)

* Guests and interviews

* In Concert from 4-5pm where a classic concert is replayed

Basically, the show would be a replica of the old Stereo Sequence show which used to be broadcast on Radio 1.

Well, Mark, I'm not complaining about the cover arrangements - mornings are great, RA and KB are great, MG is okay and BH is great. A win-win situation, unlike my appreciation of the normal set-up which effectively ends each weekday at 1400 hours.

Dont forget the added features Mitchell could bring to the show:

1) Regular time checks
2) Regular repetition of the text number 88-2-91
3) Regular reading out of surveys from the Sun, Mirror, Express and Mail
4) Regular repetition of his name "Hi I'm Pete Mitchell"

Now if only he could get a foghorn jingle from Sarah Kennedy's box to wake us up at regular intervals...............

Thats because they are all just stand-ins when the real DJs need a rest. Unfortunately we have another week of them

Apart from the Concert, you get all that with Maconie and O'Leary and it's quite entertaining.
