The long running Real Album Chart with Gary Davis has been dropped from the Real Radio and Century Radio schedules to make way for a new Sunday afternoon show with Real Radio Scotland’s breakfast presenter Robin Galloway.

Aberdeen-born Robin has hosted the breakfast show on Real Radio Scotland for many years, and is famous for his prank phone calls, which will feature in his new network show, The Weekend Wind Up.

Owners GMG Radio are also introducing off-peak network programming on the five regional stations each weeknight, with Jo Lloyd presenting from 8pm, and former Century Radio North West evening show host Jude looking after overnights.

In the last few weeks, sister-brand Smooth Radio has also introduced new network programmes with former BBC Radio 1 presenters Tony Blackburn and Andy Peebles, plus a weekly show with GMTV host Fiona Philips.

GMG Radio group programme director John Simons told RadioToday.co.uk: “New networked programmes are in off-peak and weekend slots and provide real appointments to listen and will attract new listeners.

“The audience is interested in the quality of the programme that’s coming out of the speakers not where the presenter is sitting and we feel that the programmes we are networking will enhance and improve our schedules.”

what i don't like is that they are making what should be local stations into part of a national network and that is wrong in my view. All the local stations put out the same tat now and the only thing that makes them local is the ads and the idiots who phonein but everything else is the same, it is crap! i think people should boycott all there stations and make the ratings plummet
