This Saturday (August 2nd) Radcliffe & Maconie are sitting in for Dermot O'Leary.
Is there any chance this can be made a permanent arrangement? Dermot O'Leary should be moved to 6 Music amongst the rest of the Saturday airheads. |

Stuart Maconie should never have lost his Saturday afternoon show, mind you I felt the same about Stuart's original Critical List, that's the one hour evening show that used to come on Saturdays at about 8:00pm. OK they integrated some of that show into his new afternoon show when it was three hours long, then 'Disaster' Douglas couldn't resist swinging her axe again and chopped ½ hour off it and so they reduced the 'Critical List' bit of the show to just two tracks by the time the show was lost. So I would definitely support you on having Radcliffe/Maconie on Saturdays. Also bring back Richard Allinson, another one who should never have been taken off Saturdays (And no, I'm not Mark Mayhew under an assumed name, I just happen to support him on that issue!) _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Completely agree. Stuart's Saturday show was just that little bit different to most of R2's daytime (including main weekend) shows. Great mix of music and features, and all presented with ease - perfect for a Saturday afternoon. The fact that the show got moved around and cut far too many times, only to be dropped after 2 years, says a lot about the powers that be at R2.
Dermot's show should never have been extended, it seems far too stretched now. 2 hours was much more appropriate, and having both Maconie and O'leary on meant there was a good variety to Saturday afternoons.
Hearing Stuart and Mark today was a welcome change (or even a positive step back in time as someone above touched on) and the music and interviews showed that R2 can still put together decent live outside broadcasts. More of this sort would be welcome. |
