Hello everybody. I am Malcy B and very pleased to be with you here.
I am in my 50's and have worked in the record industry for twenty years I had a lot of involvement selecting records for jukeboxes in the 1970s and 1980s and helped with the development of the Old Gold and Rediscover record labels. I run the Yahoo Test Card Music Message Board and have built up a huge interest in mainly instrumental and light music over the years. It's amazing just how much Test Card music was used during the night on Radio 2 during the 1970's. But some great light composers there like Syd Dale, Johnny Pearson, Reg Tilsley, Ronnie Binge, etc etc. It wasn't bland lift music in those days!
That brings me to my other interest, radio and television themes.
I am working on a project at the moment finding out what theme was used to introduce and close programmes on the Light Programme and Radio 2. In latter years of course many programmes opened up with just a jingle and no main theme. But so many of our DJ's did have a regular theme tune.
For example Jimmy Young used "Town Talk" by Ken Woodman and His Piccadilly Brass. One of the tunes Terry Wogan used was a piece by Brass Incorporated called "Just Like That". Brass Incorporated also did a version of Brian Fahey's "At The Sign Of The Swinging Cymbal" for Alan Freeman's "Pick Of The Pops". Sam Costa and his daily lunchtime show "Accent On Melody" used "Dress Rehearsal" by Carlos Diernhammer... and so I go on!!
If you would like a copy of the list I am putting together then please drop me a line at: malcyb2000@yahoo.co.uk
You may have something you can add to it. It is still very much work in progress at the moment but it is coming on in leaps and bounds.
Thanks for hearing me out.

Big welcome to Malcyb.
Malc has started another thread in the Shows & Music section with more about his search for Theme Tunes and Show Intros
I know I have a few such clips over at the R2ok site proper, I'll look for those shortly.
