I thought I would start a thread about this partly to show off something I've just finished (sorry ) and also to find out if anyone else does any creative crafts of any kind. I like looking at other people's efforts as well as making things myself.
Anyway here is my latest finished project, it's a cross stitch, it took ages! It is unframed and needs stretching which is why it looks slightly uneaven in places.

Wow Toggy!
That's fantastic. I like it. Bet your fingers were sore after doing that.
One of my hobbies is painting - I'll take some pictures of my paintings and post them on here later this week. |

That is superb, Toggy, and it will look even better when framed, as you say. That is one glorious peacock!
I have an inkling how long and painstaking the process is because my mother does it - every year the family birthday and Christmas cards from her are done in it, and we have a framed LS Lowry print in her cross-stitch on a wall in the hallway. The fine work and bending over it has taken its toll though and she does less now than she used to (she is 79).
Creative juices were left out when they made my mould, unfortuneately; I envy you. _________________ Ron |

Wow Togs, superb!
Hobbies thread... hmm. Did Radio 2 ever have hobbies programmes or was that restricted to Radio 4 (gardening) and Radio 3 (cookery, or was that on the Third Programme?). |

That's really good. Just reminded me, my former Sister-in-Law does a lot of tapestry/ embroidery. Brother was burgled once and when the Insurance assessor came round he said they had taken the Video etc. but left the most valuable things on the walls. Yes the tapestries! You take good care of them now. |

Toggy that's fantastic!
I used to do loads of cross stitch but never anything as big as that. I've a half finished one that I keep threatening to get started on again but never seem to find the time.
I've done cards as well, they were a great way to pass the time on transatlantic flights before 9/11 put a stop to it.

Interesting points.
Regrettably I have no manual hobbies--two left hands!

These are some of my paintings- various views of St Michael's Mount in Cornwall. They look a bit different on screen to how they do on the wall but you get the picture . The first two are 3 feet x 2 feet in size acrylic on canvas the third one is 2 feet x 2 feet also acrylic on canvas.
From the waterline on Marazion beach at sunset.
From Marazion Cemetary - winter sunset
The National Trust Gardens and back of the castle from the south side of the island at Mid-day. |

Lovely, vibrant colours, Rach, makes it look inviting even in winter, and I like the marble effect of the first one.
This is my mum's Lowry cross-stitch. Sorry about the flash

Great paintings Rachel, they are really nice.
Like the Lowry too, I think that one is called The Market or possibly Friday Market. |
