Two items on the 8am news today.
1. Employers may be forced to scrap compulsory retirement ages on the grounds of prevention of ageism.
2. Free theatre tickets will be made available to those under the age of 26.
Sorry, did I sleep through something?

I'm not sure the latter is entirely the same subject. In my experience of running an amdram theatre very few 16-26 year olds go to the theatre so presumably the hope is if they go for free, they'll carry on and actually pay for productions. |

I certainly don't think employers should be forced to retain employees over the established retirement age..
If an employee has seriously slowed down in whatever it is they do, or can't physically carry out parts of their job, why should the employer have to put up with it? let alone adding the burden of possible health & safety issues..
Of course, if the employee is a great worker, the employer wouldn't want to let them go anyway!
Lets have some rights for the employer! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
