I think the Estate Agents were right to put up the sign.

I've had experience of people not paying rent and it makes me sick.
I totally agreed and commiserated with the chap who said he'd put a great deal of work and pride into his flats as I did, only to get some low life refusing to pay the rent and with the law stacked up on his side after trashing the place.

Luckily for me, in the 15 years or so I owned several flats, I only encountered a couple of problems in the latter years which actually made me decide to leave the properties empty rather than risk it again.

I've had to be "present" twice in the last few months at two flats my father in law owns in case things kicked off with troublesome tenants - and, as the on the show today, both were males who'd moved in after the flat had been let to a female. Both caused damage and dished out insults to my father in law who's in his 70s. ( in his younger days he'd have knocked seven bells out 'em! )

It really turned my stomach to think of these people in my property at the time.
A quick £50 to a local hard case soon dealt with one of them though. Wink

I think people like these should be shamed... after all didn't local Councils consider a similar route with troublemakers recently?

It used to be the case that District Councils could and did post up details of council house tenants whose rents were in significant arrears. I don't know what the law is now that so many tenants are covered by housing associations.
