Jame's Bond's classic Aston Martin, which made its first appearance in 1964's Goldfinger, is the most iconic car of all time.

A poll for TV channel Dave put the Jaguar E-Type second and the Mini Cooper, star of the 1969 Michael Caine film The Italian Job, third.

I agree with the findings of the poll. Do you?

I always seem to have a problem with the word iconic.. what does it mean in this case? that the Aston was the most representative or symbolic of all time?
If so, no I don't agree. A nice looking car but not even symbolic of the 60s.

As far as I can see, it would only be symbolic of James Bond films or, perhaps, the TV series The Saint. Wasn't it an Aston Martin in that? Still, it'd be lovely just to have a chance to drive one!! My idea of cars to symbolise the 1960s would be the Mini, Ford Anglia (inward sloping rear window version) Morris Minor 1000, Ford Cortina (Right marks of course) to name a few.

The Saint drove a Volvo... a 1800s if I recall correctly without looking it up. Well, at least the 60s Roger Moore "Saint" did.

Of course, if we're talking 60s, I'd place the "64 1/2" Mustang in there someplace. Razz

OK, SantaFefan, I'll stand corrected, Volvo it was and apparently a Jaguar in the later 'Return' series. No sign of an Aston Martin anywhere! Embarassed
