Why should she retire? Good for her I say, nothing wrong with showing real emotion sometimes, doesn't make you less of a person.
Maybe you appreciate things more for what they are as you get older?

I heard it and it wasn't bad at all. I think it is a good thing that presenters are showing some emotion and this story obviously hit SK's heart. Go to the Listen Again and you'll see that it wasn't a blubbering outburst but genuine upset at the story.

Iain Smith, why are you so unpleasant?

She merely got a little tearful over a brave young man, at a time when her emotions are doubtless running high (Sarah recently lost her Mother).

I hope nothing upsetting ever happens to you Rolling Eyes

I listened to that
Sarah Kennedy handled it very well in deed.
She showed emotion, quite rightly.
Well done Sarah

The thread title is deliberately misleading and possibly libelous IMO.

I think it's about time certain parts of the media and some people on here gave Sarah a break. She has recently lost her mother and it is a tough time for anybody to go through. If this happened to somebody you know then you wouldn't slag them off as much as has been on here so why should Sarah be treated any differently???

Maybe it is time we concentrated on other trolls....

What would you guys like to happen to Iain regardging his distasteful and sometimes disgusting posts?

Ban him forever, ban him for a pre set time, leave him be or encourage his outbursts.... or other.

Perhaps a "yellow card" with a warning under his name visible to all.

It does sound like she has was a slightly emotional. Good on her to continue. I think Sarah is brave coming in so soon after losing her mother which can upset her if you read stories like this. It does sound like she's got hay fever, and again showing willing to get up and go in to broadcast to the listeners. She doesn't like letting people down.

Yet again Iain Smith likes to jump to conclusions and doesn't want to find any good points about Sarah. He's only digging a hole for himself.

Looking at the members warnings thread, iain has already accumulated:

iain_smith

0 Minor
2 Major - issued 16/02/07 *
0 Unforgivable

* 6 hour ban 16/02/07

If he's given a 3rd major, then 18 hr ban. So a subsequent 4th major would then make sentence discretionary.

There is the option of the 'unforgivable' ..........

Razz

I personally think this minor and major ban lark isn't going to work anymore. All it does is create more work, and gives a more structured way in which trolls can operate and thus be back again and again.

does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with iain?

That law was abolished years ago.... Laughing I think Iain will know he's stirred things and learning by his mistakes. Best way if to lock the thread and leave it? Let it go over your head. Obviously the national press got hold of the story so they are as bad as him, and we can't ban them Laughing If he does over step the mark again then warn him that you don't tolerate this. He does seem to only post station schedule reports like we all do. If he does do this again then consider to remove him for a few months.

OK, save time and apply 'unforgivable' to the original title of this thread (some may have missed it).

The responses on this thread only feed the ghoul.

If we want no further disgusting hypochondriac/necrophilic thread titles then end it now.

What's the point in banning trolls when they always return under another guise? Iain Smith is well-known for his distasteful views and postings but he gets away with it time and time again.

I will never forgive him for his attack on Johnnie Walker, not forgetting announcing he death of David Jacobs on the old Radio 2 board. Like I said, Iain Smith is a vile creature.

Can we stick his head down the toilet and flush? Never seen it but would love to witness it.

The only way to deal with trolls is to starve them of their oxygen, ie - don't reply to their posts. They will then simply wither and die
