So, Dame Lesley is gorn, but who will replace her? Place your bets here, folks!

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing either Matthew Bannister or BBC London's David Robey given a crack - the best way of ensuring a slot for Mr. Baker is still in the offing!

Have to say I agree with Gambo. Brand was a time bomb and Douglas's love of him cost her her career.

Some think Baker a bit of a loose cannon but he's like D. Jacobs in comparison.

Baker mentioned on-air on Tuesday that R2 had invited him to an 'urgent' meeting. Now, this might be another of Baker's infamous leg-pulls, however could it possibly have been La Douglas getting her last will and testament in order before she jumped? After all there was no secret in the fact she is a DB fan and had tried several times - unsuccessfully - to sign Baker, most recently as a stand-in to 6Music Breakfast Show host Sean Keaveny. Interesting... Ross's 12 week suspension relief perhaps?

Brand was always a liability and, from the shows I heard complete with talk of genitalia etc, not exactly groom-able to a more mainstream slot so I couldn't see why Douglas was so desperate to shift him from 6 to such a lowly slot on 2? It's wasn't as if he could be put anywhere else on the network.

Oh, and by the way, his producer. 25 did I read?! I've got older socks!! No wonder it all went pear-shaped!

Indeed he did, which would be an added bonus for Radio 2! Very Happy

Perhaps Danny Baker will be used as a stand-in for Jonathan Ross?

Except he also fired Baker from 5Live, didn't he? And Baker wasn't allowed back on that station until Shennan had left.

Mark Thompson said he wont rule out the return of Lesely Douglas. Maybe not Radio 2? I thought she was going to be moving into Television?

Before this furore, I read that Lesley Douglas was being lined up to head the 'Radio Academy.' Rolling Eyes

Seeing as how she was so in thrall of it, Perhaps her TV job should be in charge of Big Brother. She should stay away from radio, save perhaps for a tin-pot ILR station.
