Anybody see this on HIGNFY? Michael Ball read out an email from "helvetica bold". Turns out "helvetica bold" was the font the email was written in! Laughing

I didn't see it but, being something of a technophobe myself, I can certainly sympathise!!

I agree with Ian Hislop on this one. It's an easy mistake to make yet they really ripped into him for it. But I do like the way Michael Ball handled it on his show today, I can see it becoming a constant thread in regular listeners emails to him.

I was listening at the time and, being involved with graphics in my last job, spotted it staight away. Razz
Can't say I'm too impressed with him on this show.. a bit flat for me.
I enjoyed Paul O'Grady more...

Yeah, I was watching HIGNFY on the iPlayer when this came up. When everybody laughed, I paused it and said 'Helvetica Bold' out loud to myself several times trying to work out how it was rude - for, rather stupidly, that's what I presumed the joke was - like Mr. Peacock, first name Drew (which has caught both Vine and Evans out recently). Seen as Wogan frequently gets e-mails from 'Mahatma Coat' and 'Edna Cloud', I don't really see why they made such a big deal about this - but hey it's nice to hear Radio 2 getting some media attention since Ross & Brand brought the great station to fame.

I thought it was funny too and good on Michael for not taking himself to seriously and sharing the joke with his listeners. Laughing Laughing However apparently "helvetica bold" is the username of someone on the 'Ashes to Ashes' forum. And as Philip Glenister was his guest and the reason for the email, perhaps he was right first time round. Smile

Great show again yesterday!

I heard it on the show, and while it's amusing for a font geek like myself I don't think it's something to have a go at him over.
