I've absolutely no idea and am not going to do a webcheat so I'll register a guess at John Barry.

Ian.

Hi Ian. This composer is American. He later wrote the musical scores for many famous films. Not in this science fiction genre. Smile

I should know this but it's a long time since I saw the movie. Is it "Johnny" Williams?

Have now officially cheated and looked up the answer--but I shan't spoil the quiz just yet!

Hello gentlemen! Henry Mancini wrote the 'romantic' themes for the film whilst two other composers named Salter and Stein wrote the 'opening and closing themes' and the 'horror themes' respectively. As the film involved a lot of underwater sequences it required plenty of music to fill in for the lack of dialogue.

There were three films in the series: 'Creature from the Black Lagoon', 'Revenge of the Creature', and 'The Creature walks among us.' Julia (later Julie) Adams, Lori Nelson and Leigh Snowdon were the female stars of the films, so the creature really liked glamorous women! Laughing Julie Adams was married to the actor/director Ray Danton. Lori Nelson was a favourite actress of mine, though she never achieved the fame of Monroe, Mansfield or Lana Turner. Leigh Snowdon married Dick Contino, the accordion playing, body builder type hero of several 'B' pictures, who is still doing his act in Las Vegas I believe!

I always thought that the Creature's suit was a superb bit of work, considering the period when the film was made.

The Creature was played by a champion French swimmer if memory serves me correctly.

Hello PJ. Several people played the Creature, over the three films in the series. Ricou Browning did most of the underwater scenes and Don Megowan and Ben Chapman ran amok on dry land! The name of the boat they dived into the Black Lagoon from was called 'Rita', which raised a laugh with me as it is my wife's name! Laughing
