I was only saying yesterday, why are all today's pushchairs so bloomin' big? Is it following the trend of cars, which get wider and higher by the day??? _________________ MiS |

My daughter has a rather big (and expensive) Mamas & Papas 'Skate' model. It can face either way, it can also carry the car seat instaed of the pram bit so it's easy to transfer sleeping baby to car, very manoevrable round the ailes of Tesco... yeah it's so big you have to remove (easy) one set of wheels to get it into an Audi boot!
Anyway, why does it take a 'study' to realise that parent/child facing each other will communicate more? Doh!
So, Native American women who put babies in a papoose on their back got it wrong too? Of course they did that so they could work at the same time. But what did western women do with their toddlers before there were 'buggies'? Yeah, put them in a locked playpen and went off to another room.
I think the effects on toddlers of ever-present radio/pop music and constant sound of people shouting on TV requires more urgent study. Maybe we can ban Eastenders because it's damaging toddlers' ability to communicate normally.

More money spent on research to discover the bloomin' obvious! Isn't a baby/toddler bound to be happier when it can see its parent, rather than strangers rushing towards it?
The trend towards larger pushchairs seems to have come with the ability of modern public transport to accomodate them without (as in our day) having to decant infant and fold the thing up, and at the other end the inevitable juggling act while you struggled to set it back up. Some pushchairs are now so large and luxurious we might see a return to pre-60s-style prams. _________________ Ron |

Well they are a bloomin' nuisance in supermarkets and even on pavements. I always end up walking in the road! _________________ MiS |

Is it amphibious though? And can it fire guided missiles?
Some of these buggies are more like military vehicles and some of the pushers treat them like weapons. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |
