According to reliable reports the BBC trust will announce at middaythat Ross's 3 mnths suspensin is enough punishment and he will be able to return to full broadcasting dutiies in january.Good news for Ross, the only question is will he want to come back to a radio station where he he is now so unpopular?

ps the BBC trUST have censured Chris Moyles for talking about the row during peak time whenn children were listening. Its not known what punishment if any Moyles will receive.

If he was a decent man, he would leave the BBC. He won't, of course!

The news report and extract of what the BBC Trustees said:-

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7741322.stm

They have decided to blame management as much as Ross. However, this bit sounds familiar...

"It was a very offensive programme which should never have been recorded. Once the offensive phone call was made, the recording should have stopped and senior management alerted," he said.

...to me, anyway Wink

Confused I just can't see how the "cheeky chappie" can comfortably return as his old self with some of the derisory comments from his colleagues still ringing in his ears.. particularly the ones about acting his age.
Is it possible for him to carry on as if nothing happened or will he be lame duck now?

Sadly I think the derisory comments will be drowned out by the 'it was all blown out of propostion by the media' types (who in my view don't see what he did wrong) Rolling Eyes

But, I'm sure even he realised just how stupid this affair made him look amongst his fellow presenters, the truth hurts and he must have thought about it when on his own... I know I would.
As Rachel said on another thread, he hasn't really been missed has he? Radio 2 has carried on - some say for the better, the system hasn't collapsed..
I still think the complaints were for the most part, against the decline in standards generally and the ridiculous wages paid to celebrities who, in the real world, are not wanted by the general radio listening public.

This is our licence money and the BBC should spend it better. I strongly object to them paying huge money to such an individual as Jonathan Ross. There must be more talented people out there who deserve a chance without giving him our money. We haven't missed him and we certainly don't want him back!

Hang on... I'm one of those people but I do see what he did as wrong. In my view, it's not a matter of breaking the broadcaster's code but rather the infrigement on Sachs' privacy. That said, it was not an evil, cold or calculated crime and in balance it is better to allow presenters to push boundaries than to limit the presenters with the threat of a ban when they cross the line. This does mean that lines will occasionally be crossed and when the line is crossed I still consider it wrong but do not condemn the perpetrators with the firebrand vitriol that they have received by some.

Instead all events like this are interesting in terms of the reflection of society's 'moral compass' (an optimistic interpretation to say the least) and of the leaning curve that it hands to comedy. Sometimes you don't know if something is offensive until it's been done. You can't have your hands tied in comedy. That said, it was clearly offensive to Mr. Sachs and many 'listeners'.

The report did have a few interesting facts. Like the average age of Russell Brand's audience is 50, and more than 40% were over 55.

My personal view -' he shouldn't return to Radio 2 as he let down not only the BBC, but some of the listeners to the station?

Let him rule the TV, but not Radio 2.

Tel and Ken were having a good old laugh about it this morning, so it wouldn't appear to be a serious issue as far as they are concerned.

Terry pointing out, whilst laughing, that it was the same newspaper that said Ken had been fired two weeks ago and said "You can read them but you don't have to believe them, in fact you'd be better off not to."
