It has been confirmed that Graham Norton will take over from Sir Terry as commentator on the eurovision song contest from next may.Perfect choice I say,and who knows ,if Graham does a good enough job he mmay be on the s hortlist for new breakfast presenter when Terry retires.

Iain, you might want to change the title of this thread, as it appears that you're suggesting that GR is replacing TW on the breakfast show. It's a little misleading.

An ideal choice. Just the right man to carry on with the tongue in cheek presentation that this show merits. He'll do a great job, though I think he needs to be more visually projected rather than voice-over to get the best out of him. His understated facial expressions are half the fun. Laughing

A camp man for a camp show
I find Wogan tedious of late
He has introduced alot of good artistes on his adio show but i find his shows indigestible these days
I havn't watched Eurovision in years
As if the bad music wasn't enough, Terry's heavy handed sarcasim made it particuarly indigestible

I read that Austrian television recently dropped entering the Eurovision to save money. I think the BBC should either treat it seriously or stop whineing about the ridiculousness it. It seems like the BBC are going to treat it as an even bigger joke by employing Graham norton as commentator

I agree
Maybe once or twice sending it up is mildly amusing
But when you get it year after year with ever heavier sarcasm & redicule, what is the point?
If it is worth showing, show it
If it is something to be treated with contempt don't show it & save us all alot of money

It's only mind-numbingly boring twice a year; once before CIN and once after it........ problem is they're both six-month stints! Wink

I do think it's gone off the boil lately though, although some of the Togs' Cruise bits were good. Biggest irritation to me is that the show seems to have descended into an orgy of self-congratulation, and apart from that I'm absolutely sick of that Chuffer bloody Dandridge! Twisted Evil

I agree
I used to quite enjoy Wogan
But oiver the past year or so it has become unbearable
I would suggest Bob Harriss for breakfast but his agreeable whisperings might just keep us all dozing

Well on the way to work on Thursday I heard

Jupiter from the planets by Holst followed by the waltz of the flowers by Tchaikovsky

On Friday I heard a Vaughn Williams medley then Debussy

Good old Simon bates! Laughing I shan't be tuning back to radio 2...
