I do wonder why the Government couldn't have helped them? It is a sad day for those workers in the North East.

I don't suppose the government can help everybody out because no doubt they would all jump on the bandwagon.
What's happening with Jaguar and Land Rover now? I haven't heard anymore on that story.
I think this is the problem this country faces now, foreign firms will do what they can to protect their own workers and sod the UK.. I might be wrong but I feel we're in a very weak position now we've sold the family silver.
I also think the government should invest big money into BRITISH firms to develop the Hydrogen powered car as shown on James May's programme recently. Lets grab the opportunity!

I'm sure I heard somewhere today that the publishers of pornography, probably in the US, had appealed for government financial aid on the basis that in these depressed times..... well you know where this is going.... Crying or Very sad

Reminds me of something in the South African press a few years back, where the government thought that if wider television coverage could be extended to the townships it might help stop the spread of AIDS.... not as an educational device, but as a diversionary tactic!!! Rolling Eyes
