|

The BBC is planning to put up a "ring of steel" around Broadcasting House, its central London HQ, amid concerns it could become a target for terriosts. The corporation has applied for permission to install more than 200 fixed bollards around the building, as well as eight hydraulic retractable bollards and seven large concrete planters.
Interesting developments |

Apparantly a BBC Executive hot footing it from the meeting regarding this has been quoted as saying "as well as trying to keep the terriosts out we also want to send a clear message to Steve Wright that the route in future to your desk is going to be more challenging". |

The place where I used to work installed one of these “rings of steel” to protect the staff, with security fences, card-operated turnstiles and barriers into the car-parks and buildings- a couple of weeks later they sacked 25 security guards.
It was like being in prison. It didn’t feel safe at all- quite the opposite, and is the main reason why I left. |
