Looks as though Alan Carr is joining Radio 2 as a replacement for Russell Brand.

Date and scheduled time of the show to be announced shortly.

How odd that Johnny Walker is starting a new show in Brand's time slot.

Where did this come from?

Helen. Mark M Maybe right. Depends if you trust The Mirror?

Quote:
Friday Night Project host Alan Carr is said to be joining BBC Radio 2 on a regular basis, as a replacement for Russell Brand. The Mirror claims producers at the station were determined to have a comedian back in the late-night slot.

The BBC have yet to confirm the report, but a spokesman for Alan Carr confirmed he is in talks about a role on Radio 2, but not necessarily in Russell's former slot.

Alan Carr was first heard on the network on Christmas Day 2007 when he hosted Alan Carr's Christmas Box. He co-presenter The Russell Brand show in October last year, along with one-off programmes on BBC 6 Music.

I'll be taking that with a sizeable pinch of salt. See this thread for what Johnnie Walker actually said on his show today: http://r2ok.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=4289

Is this a joke? His voice sends me instantly to the radio to switch off, worse than fingernails down a blackboard Mad

Imagine 2 hours of that! No thanks.

He's sat in for Ross in the past (prior to Christmas 2007, as mentioned in the report) so could be there (or thereabouts). Or it could simply be his Comedy Hour show has been recommissioned and the dozy Mirror have misunderstood.

Me neither! The voice is more Jo Brand than Russell Brand, but without the occasional flash of humour.

Carr is just plain annoying.
